Episode 17: SMELL THE MUSIC! with DK's Koncoctions
DK’s anchor has always been music — sounds just make perfect 'scents' in her world.
Having navigated 18 demanding years in the fast-paced tech industry, DK found solace, stillness, and purpose while practicing / teaching mindful meditation. Botanical exploration and herbal medicine-making emerged as a natural extension of DK's own quest for healing, which led her to study complementary modalities under the Mind- Body Transformational Psychology program at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (Tempe, Arizona).
While earning certifications as a clinical Aromatherapist and Reflexologist in a traditional therapeutic setting, DK transcended the curriculum from her own inner-sanctuary. Olfactory memory became a mode of transportation. DK's unique ability to bottle experiences and make music smell good left lasting reverb on her classmates, instructors, and musician friends alike. By blending her synesthetic intuition and passion for innate healing with a life-long orientation towards serving others, Es•scent•ial Sensory Remedies was born, and DK's Koncoctions came to be.
The holistic approach DK takes to healing as an art ensures individualized care, attention, and attunement. In every endeavor — be it orchestrating a sensory experience, walking with others towards self-advocacy, dream-weaving within the collective, or translating a signature symphony of smells — DK stands proud as a creative vessel. Australian-born + Jamaican-based musician, Nattali Rize, is one of DK's 'OG Noses'. Handwritten bottles from early school days have now traveled the world and back again. It makes complete 'scents' how this potent new tune transformed into a signature blend between Sunday brunch and sundown.
'Believer', featuring Mike Love, [produced by Unga Barunga, mixed by Bonzai Caruso] consists of medicinal rhythms and conscious lyrics, making this small batch essential oil recipe a true 'frequency shifter'. A profound mixing + mastering process of oils and essence, this is a layered collaboration beneath the sound.

Aside from embodying the title of Molecular Maestro (aka Lady Essence), DK spent over a year as Manager of McKeezy Productions — weaving dreams together behind the scenes of a very intricate operation.
Working alongside a [long time friend and] mastermind like Andrew McKee (HIRIE) in his musical paradigm while co-creating in her own was an organic fusion of experience and artistry. From corporate to creative and many stops in between, this pairing was a fruitful integration of creative zest and soul purpose.

DK captured baddie bassist Chevy Palm's Signature Scent with ease; her bright, powerful and loving energy arranged itself botanically just in time for her desert stop on tour. Big hugs in a small package for the sister to keep in her pocket as she carried onward. A sweet reminder and reflection all blended together for her continued journey, with elements from loving conversations with DK along the way. A fully branded blend collaboration will be coming soon!
Many months prior, singer/songwriter Amanda Juline embarked on another sonic adventure with McKeezy Productions [DK was managing at the time] — it became obvious that this new tune 'Me & You' needed to get bottled up in tandem. DK was involved in different layers of smells and sounds as scratch ideas transformed into a full, vibey tune. Set to release this summer, a branded essential oil blend will also be available as official Amanda Juline Merch.
A few weeks after Chevy received her blend in Arizona, DK finalized Amanda's recipe when the tune got mastered — no connection just yet.
Once it was announced that the two artists happened to get booked to perform together in Amanda's local area, their respective oils intersected along with all of our spirits. Heart swelling moments, as DK and Amanda have yet to meet in person, but have intersected es•scent•ially.
